Are you sick and tired of that old Shower Curtain in your Bathroom? Are you looking for a way to enhance the look and feel of your wash space, while at the same time adding a significant value to your home? If you said yes to either question, than you are in need of a Glass Shower Door.

Shower Glass Doors have become the absolute must have for today’s contemporary homeowner. And leading the way in this modern revolution of Glass in the Wash Room is the Frameless Shower. Whether you have a Bathtub or a Shower Stall. A Glass Enclosure can be made to fit virtually any space configuration and style imaginable. Let’s say you have a Bathtub. You can either have a Glass Panel set on top or at the side of it. Or if you want an entire Shower space Enclosed in Glass with its own Door. Either way the design possibilities are truly endless with the only foreseeable limitations in sight would be the budget, the skill level of the installation team commissioned for the project and then finally the imagination.

The most commonly used Glass is Clear Tempered Glass. Tempered Glass Panels can be Custom Etched with any drawing or design. A special Fire Kiln Molded Glass known as Cast Glass is another option. Then there’s Laminated Glass that can only be installed in a Framed Shower unit. The reason being is that water will find its way in to the Laminate only to later cause a Mold build up. Just like in that old, dingy Shower Curtain! Nevertheless when properly installed in a Framed Shower unit, Laminated Glass will be 100% Mold free. And you can have it Etched or Laminated with a Custom Design.

These different categories of Glass are the three types available for Glass Shower units. And each comes with many, many choices for the color, texture and design. Your only problem now is deciding on the many options before you. Good luck!

Shower Glass Doors are Virtually Mold Free

by Bath Towel on September 8, 2009

The homeowner of the modern day wishes to have a bathroom that is cleaner, more stylish and more hygienic than their predecessors could have ever imagined. And thanks to the Glass Shower Door the days of the old, moldy shower curtain are coming to an end in today’s contemporary bathroom.

Aside from pleasing the eye and adding value to the home, Glass Showers do not provide a breeding ground for Germs and Mold causing Bacteria that will only make you and your loved ones sick. The washing machine is what most people use to clean their Shower Curtains. Yet unbeknownst to them they are quite possibly spreading millions upon millions of Germs and Mold causing microscopic Bacteria into their washing machines that can later infect the entire household. With a Glass Shower Door such dangers are not an issue. In order to clean Glass in the wash space all that needs to be done is to wipe it down with any disinfectant cleaner, rinse, squeegee and you are Germ & Bacteria free. Except of course for the Silicon that is used to make a watertight seal at the joints of the Glass Panels. And at the watertight seal known as the Bottom Wipe, which goes at the base of every Glass Shower Door. Both Silicone and the rubber made Bottom Wipes will form Mold with time. The solution is to use a Mildew Resistant Silicon that is specifically made for Showers & Sinks. The Bottom Wipes are very inexpensive and should be replaced at least twice per year.

All Shower Glass Doors can easily be bacteria and mold free if the proper precautions from its installation are carried out. And if a regiment of routine cleaning is adhered to by the owner.

For example let’s say you want a Glass Panel for your Bathtub. The two most common choices are to have the Glass set to the side of the Tub, or resting on top.

Another option is a high end one known as Cast Glass. It’s made with a Custom Mold in the Fire Kiln. Plus Laminated Glass gives you the option of either Laminating or Etching it with a Custom Design.

These different categories of Glass are the three types available for Glass Shower units. And each comes with a multitude number of options for the designs, texture and colors. Your only problem now is deciding on the many options before you. Good luck!
